The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Rajshahi offers four-year Honors and one-year Masters Degree. The department also awards M. Phil. and Ph. D Degree to competent fellows.
The Honors course was of three years before 1998, now it is of four years. Masters Course is of one year.
Since 2006-2007 sessions, the department switched over from traditional to grading system in publishing the results of the students to cope with the universities of home and abroad. The department introduced two-year Evening Masters Course in 2014 and 4-month long Certificate Course on Journalism this year, specially for the media professionals.
The undergraduate program prepare students for dynamic careers in many traditional and new fields—working in media industries, or in other industries but within communications, and as entrepreneurs. And the Masters Degree emphasizes individualized inquiry into communication phenomena in a lively intellectual environment.
Competitively small program sizes permit students and faculty to work closer together as a community of learners.

Our graduates pursue careers in:
Journalism: Print, broadcast, radio news, online news portal, multimedia, social media news and information.

Strategic Communication: Social, digital media persuasion, public relations, political communication, health & science communication, advertising, marketing, corporate communications, investor/client/customer relations, branding, event planning, and non-profit advocacy & fundraising.

Creative Communication: Cinema, video documentation, television videography.

Media Research: Academic studies, corporate and non-profit.
